The Full Meal Deal

Heather K from Infiniti Photography in Lansing, Michigan, sent us some shots from quite the meal. This is no simple plate of food for a photographer to scarf down before dashing off to shoot more photos. I’ll let her describe the meal in her own words:
“I’m finally getting around to e-mailing you the AWESOME food I got fed at Ian and Jen’s Puerto Rico wedding in February. They had a small destination wedding on Esperanza’s beach, and their reception (a wonderful and intimate dinner/dancing party) was held at the restaurant, Next Course. I present to you my favorite among the appetizers: some kind of tomato bruschetta yummy deliciousness with chocolate on top. (I swear, the chocolate works with it!) The wonderful couple encouraged my second shooter and I to choose whichever of the entrees we liked. EASY decision for me!:DMy selection? The ”butter poached Caribbean lobster, white truffle scented crab risotto, prosciutto bound asparagus & caramelized fennel cream” YUM!  …In lieu of a wedding cake, the couple opted for a dessert bar. I don’t have details on the specific ingredients/names, but they were awesome to photograph… and to eat! …Dessert: Chocolate Lava. A-MAY-ZING! The strawberry was a perfect match for the pocket of chocolate inside the chocolate caking, and everyone loves whipped cream!”

You Had me at Short Ribs…

This week we are featuring another (surprise!) Austin photographer: Caitlin McWeeney. I think Austin must just be brimming with talent!! The meal she was served was beef short ribs with chicken in a mushroom caper sauce, accompanied by potatoes and salad. Dessert was cupcakes, and the “cake” was in-house strawberry shortcake. Looks and sounds delicious!

Beef and Borscht

This meal comes from  Austin photographer, Chris Lin. Actually, it’s two meals: the first being the official wedding vendor meal which was a delicious (and lofty sounding) grilled chateaubriand with bordelaise sauce and maitre’d butter. The second photo was taken of a homemade borscht made by the groom’s Russion/Ukrainian family while the couple and photographers went to shoot the day after session. Chris says “This plus vodka and tea… So legit.”

“It was a Buffet Line”

Our next submission comes from the Rico Suave of the West Coast, Luis Godinez. Here’s the story from Mr. Suave himself:

“I pulled a scandalous maneuver and made sure I was the first to eat.:P As soon as the DJ told me he was gonna release the tables for the buffet service I made a beeline to the buffet table and told the servers I needed two plates, and he got them for me. All the other vendors were surprised when I told them me and my asst/2nd had already eaten.:P

I did feel nice to have a full plate of food that wasn’t cold.

Menu:
Tomato Basil Chicken plus Beef Tri-tip with Jack Daniels BBQ Sauce.
Salad with walnuts, cheese, and this kick ass vinaigrette dressing.
Bakery roll and butter.
Steamed veggies.

(There was also this kick ass mash potatoes parfait station that I completely missed. Bummer)”

We photographers definitely need to eat, so we can take those candids and first dance photos. Match point goes to Mr. Suave himself.

A Little Bit of Everything

This lovely meal was devoured at a wedding I shot for Brittany Esther a month ago at the Banff Spring Hotel . The dinner was a buffet style, and let me tell you, the spread was absolutely fantastic. The top plate consisted of Wild Mushroom Ravioli, Roasted Chicken, Mashed potatoes, some Chicken Taurine, Greek Salad, Caprise, Mustard Potato Salad, a spring roll and shrimp, and let me tell you, I LOVE shrimp. The desserts were phenomenal, with the bottom ones being bread pudding and Chocolate Cream Pie:-). Yes I ate this, for the blog of course.
